We drove through the mountain pass only hours after the snow had stopped. The beauty was unmatched by the hyperventilating stress of driving with no snow tires.
This imbalance of emotions reminded me of losing hope even amidst such an incredibly beautiful and blessed life. So much goodness, yet fleeting moments of fearful circumstances and lack of control over my unknown destiny often cloud my view of hope.
As we made our way to lower ground and better roads, we were surprised by a young couple with two small dogs standing on the mountainous highway corner with a sign asking for food. So shocking of a sight that both my husband and I reached for money at the same time. As my husband handed it to them, my hope was renewed.
